Last week, at Figma Config 2023, I co-presented a talk with Yuhki Yamashita (CPO, Figma). As many of you know, I’ve spent the past few years cataloging rituals from thousands of companies into a new book called Rituals of Great Teams. It was a really fun talk and the first time I’ve done a public rundown of the concepts in the book. But more about that in the next post.
After the talk, a number of people at Config approached me and encouraged me to share insights from the rituals research more publicly in advance of the book publishing. A few of them even noticed that I had started a Substack newsletter but hadn’t published anything yet.
So I decided to form a new ritual for myself: publishing to this newsletter!
I plan to cover many of the rituals from the book research, but also have a bunch of other ideas and thoughts I’m excited to share. Please feel free to reply with anything you’d like to see me cover!
Looking forward to going on this journey with you!

👋 This little newsletter experiment is just getting started. So if you enjoyed this post, I’d love it if you subscribed and shared with a friend. Have a wonderful day! ✌️
Shishir, you could look into cross-functional collaboration. Focusing on ways of working and principles by different teams/departments within an organization.
For example, product and engineering teams learned how to work together (think lean and agile movement), but I see gaps when it comes to how commercial teams work with the product teams.
Exciting - looking forward to the upcoming content! I'd like to learn about applying the rituals for different maturity level teams.
